Kings
International College
is an 11-18 co-educational state school of approximately 700 students. Students
join us from all areas within the borough of Surrey Heath as well as from nearby
schools in Hampshire and
Berkshire
. We are located in a spacious, attractive, green belt site close to Camberley town centre, Add to this our superb facilities, our proximity to the local business community, with whom we share an excellent working relationship and the ease of access from all major transport routes, we believe we offer something very special to this corner of Surrey and North East Hampshire.
Thank you for considering us as your place of learning. I am
proud of our College and I would actively encourage you to visit
us to discover for yourselves the growing sense of excitement
about the opportunities we can offer local young people to learn and
succeed.
Providing the right environment
for
work is crucial whether for business success or for creating
a learning climate. From our welcoming 'hotel' style recepton
area, our networked interactive classrooms through to our futuristic
cyber cafe. It is immediately clear that
Kings College
is a little
different from most schools. Our
Specialist
Business and Enterprise College status
is reflected not only in the fabric of the College, but also
in the way we do things.
Students start the day briskly, registering in their lessons and move without the need for bells at the end of each lesson. With only four lessons a day movement is minimised and learning time is maximised. Students breaks are staggered to avoid long queues, food is purchased using a biometric system, and there is always a seat in the cafe whatever the weather.
We recognise that young people in the future will not only need to be well qualified, but will need to be flexible in their learning and develop skills for lifelong learning long after they leave us. This is at the heart of what we are doing with our students, equipping them with these key learning skills whilst helping them achieve academic success and personal maturity.
We begin by expecting that every new student will make progress.
Each student will also arrive with different strengths and
will develop at a different rate. It is essential therefore
that we value each child as an individual, planning their
progress and setting appropriate personal targets. Building
self esteem, creating the atmosphere for learning and providing
opportunities to celebrate success are central to our ethos.
Our 6th form is growing steadily. We deliver the increasingly popular
International Baccalaureate qualification, normally available only in private schools
and colleges. Alongside this we also deliver a range of BTec Qualifications and
the new Diploma courses. Enrolment into the 6th form is open to all both from within the college and outside.
The College will continue to anticipate and respond to the rapid changes in society, but at the same time we will develop students who reflect the College's core values within their day to day lives.
